Our Story

EMS was founded in 1995 as an initiative by engineer-oceanographers assigned to the physical oceanography group at ICM Barcelona: Miguel Moll and Agustí Julià (1940-2009).

Both started the business in a small apartment in Barcelona, developing customized solutions for various ‘oceanographic’ clients. Over the years, EMS secured representation agreements with leading manufacturers of oceanographic equipment, previously difficult to access locally, focusing on providing an efficient and competitive technical service. This strengthened the company’s operations and attracted new partners and clients.

The company continued to grow and today operates from spacious facilities in the Mediterranean capital of Barcelona, featuring modern offices and workshops.

In 2006, a French subsidiary, EMS, SARL, was established in Paris with an administrative office to facilitate interactions with the French public administration, while commercial and technical activities remain centralized in Barcelona.
